2004 July Crete, Chania AirModelling Club visit

After long time of research I found the RC model shop called Model Shop Kerpini

At the top floor i found mostly planes, engines, transmitters, and a lot of parts and stuff for RC planes.

They also have a lot of cars in a wide price range, I was close to purcase a used road metanol car, by the way.

The shop is located in the center of Chania city, walk from the large bus terminal to the taxi holding space at the 1866 square
and walk down the street with a bank at the corner, the model shop is next to the bank.

In the shop I asked for information about any RC plane clubs on the Crete island, there exist one
called Σ.Α.Χ translated into English it is Club Airmodelling Chania
They have flying field at the old military airport in Maleme about 15 km west of Chania city.
to get access to the air port and the club contact Manos (Emmanouel) from the model shop.

When I arrived there was 9 cars and one plane in the air, there are two landing areas one is 400 x 35 meters
and the big one is 800 x 35 meters and can be used if the wind is from west or east

The club has 58 members and about 35 seems to be active at the field often

They fly all kinds of planes, I saw Small/Medium/Large Electric planes, and Small/Medium/Large Metanol planes, and Large/HUGE Gasoline planes.
Average of all members : 85% METHANOL, 10% GAS/PETROL, 5% EL
